What is a couples massage?

A couples massage lets two people receive massage together in the same room, each with their own therapist. It is often shared by partners, but it also suits friends, family members or a special celebration.

Why people book it

  • Time together: a quiet space away from phones, work and daily demands.
  • Relaxation: massage may relieve tension and reduce stress for both of you.
  • Connection: a shared calm experience can support closeness and conversation.
  • Physical benefits: better circulation, eased muscle tension and relief from neck, back and shoulder aches.
  • Better sleep: many people sleep more deeply afterwards.

Do you need to be a couple?

No. You can book with a friend, a family member or anyone you would like to share the experience with.

Choosing massage types

Common choices include Swedish massage for gentle, flowing relaxation, deep tissue for firmer work, hot stone, and aromatherapy. You can both choose the same type, or each choose something different. If one of you prefers a relaxing session and the other wants something deeper, each therapist can work to that preference.

How to prepare

  • Drink water before and after your session.
  • Arrive 10 to 15 minutes early so you can settle in and complete any paperwork.
  • Tell your therapist about areas of tension, your pressure preference and any health conditions or sensitivities.

If either of you is pregnant, or has a condition such as a blood clot, heart disease, a skin condition or recent surgery, please check with your healthcare provider before booking.

Common questions

What should I wear?

You undress to your comfort level, either partially or fully. Your therapist keeps you properly draped with a sheet throughout the session.

How long does it last?

Couples sessions usually run 60, 75 or 90 minutes. See the service page for current lengths.

What if we are new to massage?

It is normal to feel a little nervous. Tell your therapist, and ask for lighter pressure or a different room temperature if you wish. Having someone you trust beside you often helps.

How is it different from a single massage?

The techniques and benefits are the same. The difference is that two people are in the room at the same time, each with their own therapist.
